Wondering what LVP installation actually looks like in your home? Here's a transparent, day-by-day breakdown of the process from Austin's most-reviewed flooring crew.

Before a single plank goes down, the LVP needs to acclimate to your home's temperature and humidity for 24–48 hours. This is especially important in Austin, where summer temperatures and AC can create significant humidity differentials between outside and inside. We deliver the material and let it sit in the installation space — still in boxes, flat on the floor — before we begin.
If we're removing existing flooring (carpet, old LVP, tile), Day 1 is demo day. Carpet and pad come up fast — a 1,500 sq ft whole-home carpet removal typically takes 3–4 hours for our crew. After demo, we assess the subfloor and address any issues: grinding down high spots, filling low spots with self-leveling compound, and securing any squeaky areas. Subfloor prep is the most important step — a flat, solid subfloor is the foundation of a floor that looks and performs well for decades.

LVP installation is satisfying to watch. Our crew starts in the most visible corner of the room and works toward the door, snapping planks together with the click-lock system. For open floor plans, we typically complete 800–1,200 sq ft per day. The final day covers transitions and trim — T-molding at doorways, reducer strips where LVP meets tile or carpet, and quarter-round along baseboards. We vacuum and clean the entire installation area and do a final walkthrough with the homeowner.
