How early should I plan door access for large format tile?

Plan access as soon as you have a likely product format and installed location. Confirm the final route again when the manufacturer, supplier or installer provides the exact product and handling information.

What should be measured before porcelain panels are delivered?

Measure the clear width and height of every opening from unloading point to room, plus hall turns, landings, stairs and elevator openings. Photos of each pinch point and the selected product dimensions help the installer evaluate the route.

Can a large porcelain panel go upstairs or in an elevator?

It may be possible when the actual panel, handling equipment and complete route have been evaluated. Stair and elevator work also requires attention to building rules, maneuvering room and qualified handling procedures.

What if the planned tile will not fit through the access route?

Revisit the tile format, layout or material approach with the product documentation in hand. Do not force or bend a panel, and do not modify structural framing, doors or building elements simply to make access possible.
